Class announcements

 

    

 

 

 

 

 

 

In order to be selected as a new member of the French NHS, a student must meet the requirements which are:

  • students must have a 90 cummulative average in French

  • students must have a “B” overall GPA average

  • students must be enrolled in an advanced French class.

If a student accepts to be part of this HONORARY CLUB , he/she must:

  • pay $20.00 of initiation fee, which includes the club’s T-shirt

  • pay $5.00 of annual dues

  • Both may be paid in one check ($25.00) made out to CHHS French Honor Society

A student is admitted into the HONOR SOCIETY for their entire high school career, but in order to graduate with HONORS (with a cord), they must remain an active member .

A student will be considered active only if:

1. they earn 8 points each semester

Points may be earned in the following manner:

  • Tutoring/helping French teacher for one hour- 1 point
  • Member of the French club- 1 point (only awarded once per year)
  • Evidence of corresponding with a native speaker- 1 point
  • Attendance at a function of French NHS (this includes meetings)- 1 point
  • Competition at a foreign language festival or contest- 2 points
  • Attending a French immersion camp- 4 points
  • Proof of community service for one hour- 1 point (3 points maximum awarded with proof of another club’s community service.)
  • Evidence of watching a French movie at a theater- 1 point
  • Evidence of attending a French art/culture exhibition- 1 point

    2. they continue to excel in French with a Cumulative “90” average during the school year.

3. they are enrolled in an advanced French class during their graduation year (unless an advanced class is not offered by the school.)

A student will be considered inactive if:

  • they have not earned 8 points each semester

  • they did not receive at least a “90” average in French during the school year.

  • they are not enrolled in an advanced French class in their graduating year, if it is offered at the school.

  • they did not maintain a “B” average for their overall GPA.
